The objective: to determine statistically significant relations between neck metastasis localization and identified primary tumor site and also associations between morphological structure of metastasis and identified primary tumor.

Material and methods. Data of 147 patients treated in Regional Oncological Dispensary of Tatarstan from 1994 to 2008 were analyzed. The method of contingency table construction was used.

Results. Direct relation between the primary tumor site in lung and squamous cell cancer metastases in cervical lymph nodes level IV and V was revealed (p≤0.01). The correlation between primary tumor site in oral cavity and parotid gland with metastatic in cervical lymph nodes level I was established (p≤0.01).

The method of statistic data manipulation proved the expectation that if there are metastases in cervical lymph nodes level IV-V, the most probable primary tumor site is lung.

KEY WORDS: neck metastases with unknown primary tumor; neck lymph nodes levels; correlation between neck metastases and primary tumor site.
