Involving of urinary tract by malignant colon tumor is a special topic among other types of invading of adjacent organs and tissues. Intraoperative diagnosis of this setting causes not only abandoning a definite surgical treatment but even an operation, although true colon tumor invasion occurs quite rarely – in 10-15% cases.

The objective: to access short-terms outcomes after combined operations for colorectal cancer with urinary tract intervention.

Material and methods. The short-term outcomes after 43 combined surgeries with urinary tract intervention (group 1) were analyzed. The control groups included patients with combined surgery without urinary tract intervention – 121 patients (group 2) and with standard definitive surgery – 120 patients (group 3). All groups were comparable by gender, age, tumor localization, complications, co-morbidity. The post-operative bed-day and postoperative mortality were assessed.

Results. The post-operative bed-day and postoperative mortality rates in the group of patients with colorectal cancer after combined surgery with urinary tract intervention and those in the control groups were equal.

Conclusion. Urinary tract intervention for tumor invasion in patients with colorectal cancer did not worsen short-term outcomes after surgical treatment.

KEY WORDS: colorectal cancer, combined surgery, urinary tract, short-term outcomes.
