We report a case of 80 year old woman who was operated in our clinic due to axillary metastasis of papillary thyroid carcinoma six years after primary surgical treatment.

The patient was operated in the year 2005 due to papillary thyroid cancer, when total thyroidectomy was performed followed by RAI treatment. Patient was reoperated in the year 2006 due to metastases in the right lateral neck lymph nodes.

In the year 2011 patients was reoperated due to 10,5 cm in diameter tumor in the right axilla with no palpable or mammographic signs of tumors in the breasts. Definite histological examination showed metastasis of papillary thyroid carcinoma.

Disscussion: Axillary region examination must be compulsory part of monitoring the patients who initially presented with aggressive thyroid carcinoma.

KEY WORDS: papillary thyroid carcinoma, axilla, metastases.
